Gilli's 1st Play Date

Gilli got an invitation to come to a play date set up by the Cocker Companions Rescue and he was not about to miss it. As soon as he came in the door and his leash was unhooked he was off! There was lots of running, tumbling, barking, and oops - accidents, but this was the best time ever for my Gilli. He acted very well and rarely barked, if at all. He is definitely a social butterfly. He was not real aggressive but didn't back down either so he made his mommy & daddy very proud.

There were lots of wiggle butts in the room, many of them adopted but some of them were still looking for homes. Kirkland, one of the available adoptees, stole our heart - he wanted to be in the middle of everything and everybody. He would make a family a great companion. Be sure and check him out at their website: www.cockercompanions.com.

After an hour of fun with his foster cousins Gilli was ready to go home and rest up. I think if he could talk he would have asked to go back again the next morning. I know he can't wait till the next play date.

It's Been Two Weeks

Yesterday marks the two-week anniversary of having Gilli in our lives. Right now we sit here watching a movie with the surround sound and he thinks the sounds from the speakers are coming from upstairs or outside. I guess we will be turning the surround sound off from here on out.

We got Gilli (real name McGillicutty) from the Knoxville, TN Cocker Companions rescue. We thought we wanted a girl because that is what we had before - our sweet Sugar. I am so glad we decided on this little guy - he is so full of life and so funny.
While I write this story Gilli has gotten behind the tv to hide while he gets the dirt out of the plant beside the tv (that I just scolded him about). There is dirt everywhere, including on his nose. He is too smart for his own good - you have to watch him like a hawk because he is stubborn enough to figure out how to get what he wants. And he loves dirt & mulch from the indoor plants.

Gilli Vanilli

Our Gilli is the funniest little dog. We laugh everyday at his antics so I think 'Gilli Vanilli' is a perfect nickname for him - "You Know It's True!" Some of Gilli's favorite things:
  • hanging out with his dad in the garage
  • the puppy in the full-length mirror
  • mulch or plant leaves - whichever is the easiest to snatch
  • right side - he has to go up the stairs on the right or he gets tripped up
  • jumping onto the couch (from the backside) - he's a jumper!
  • bouncing on the bed - every morning he takes a running jump on to the bed and bounces across it right into our face to give us morning kisses
  • waking up in the morning - he is the happiest dog first thing in the morning
  • all his toys - he will head upstairs or downstairs to get the toy he wants and bring it to where we are
